Dannemiller Anesthesiology Review Course on DVD (5th Edition) provides a comprehensive review of the specialty of anesthesiology. This superb educational activity allows the user to earn valuable CME/CE credit while studying for boards or reviewing current anesthesiology practice. This program contains 59 complete lectures from 15 renowned anesthesiologists offering Category 1 CME credits for physicians, and AANA Credit for CRNAs. CME/CE Certificates are provided through an Internet link allowing the user to complete a posttest as well as an evaluation and print certificates directly from a computer. Individual transcripts of completed lectures are kept to allow users to print additional copies of certificates.

This syllabus contains the slides from the 2010 Anesthesia Review Course that was presented in San Antonio, Texas in April 2010 and Chicago, Illinois in June 2010. This activity contains 59 lectures with audio and slides. The participant should:
- Read the learning objectives and other CME information.
- Select a topic from the table of contents.
- Listen to the audio while viewing the slides.
- Take the post-test after each lecture.
- The participant must answer 80% of the questions correctly in order to receive credit.
- Complete the evaluation: Participants who complete the post-test and evaluation will be issued a certificate, which may be printed at your location. No additional certificate will be mailed. Statement of Need
Practicing anesthesiologists, anesthesiology residents, and practicing CRNAs require a thorough periodic review of our specialty's core information. Dannemiller has organized such a review of this body of information by drawing on the opinions of expert anesthesiology educators, as well as feedback from anesthesia professionals and participants at previous Dannemiller programs. Based on this information, this course has been designed to provide an in-depth, state-of-the-art review of the practice of anesthesia. It is intended to meet the needs of those preparing for certification or re-certification examinations, and/or practitioners who desire a comprehensive review of our discipline's core body of information.

Purpose
The overall goal of this Course is to provide a comprehensive review of the specialty of anesthesiology.
Course Objectives
After attending this review course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the workings and the inherent hazards of common anesthesia administration and monitoring equipment.
- Describe and apply pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles in the administration of intravenous and inhaled anesthetics.
- Describe the physiology and pharmacology of neuromuscular blockade.
- Describe the mechanisms of normal coagulation and common anticoagulants, and describe the infectious and non-infectious hazards of transfusion.
- Describe the indications and techniques, including ultrasound, for upper and lower extremity regional blocks.
- Describe the assessment of the respiratory system prior to pulmonary resection surgery; describe intraoperative management and post operative analgesia for thoracic surgery.
- Describe the preoperative evaluation and intraoperative management of patients with various endocrinopathies including diabetes and thyroid disease.
- Describe the essential elements of transitional/neonatal physiology; describe the anesthetic management of common and neonatal and pediatric emergencies.
- Describe the techniques for anesthesia and analgesia for vaginal and caesarean delivery; describe the management of obstetrical emergencies.
- Describe the evaluation and management of patient with coronary and valvular disease; describe the anesthetic management techniques for on and off pump cardiac surgery.
- Describe the physiology and pharmacology relevant to neuroanesthesia; describe the anesthetic management for aneurysm, posterior fossa lesions and head injury surgery.
- Describe the pathophysiology and treatment of sepsis, acute lung injury and multi-organ failure.
- Describe the physiology of normal and neuropathic pain; describe the clinical management of acute, chronic and cancer related pain.
Target Audience
This Course is intended for residents preparing for Board certification examinations, for anesthesiologists preparing for re-certification, and for practicing anesthesiologists and CRNAs seeking a comprehensive review of the specialty’s core body of knowledge.
